What all assurances has WhatsApp given after govt stopped username feature rollout?

A WhatsApp spokesperson told NDTV Profit that phone numbers will still be required and multiple safeguards will be adopted to prevent scams after the Centre halted the username feature rollout. Lookalike derivatives of known names will be held, there'll be a block against guessing usernames and a limit to how many new people a user can contact, the spokesperson added.
