What are Indian Railways' new ticket cancellation rules?

The Indian Railways has revised the ticket cancellation time windows of 48, 12 and four hours before departure to 72, 24 and eight hours, aligned with the advance preparation of reservation charts. The Railways will soon also allow travellers to cancel counter tickets from any railway station. It has scrapped the requirement of filing Ticket Deposit Receipts for e-tickets.
