'Smoke biscuits', which a boy in Karnataka consumed recently and fell ill, contains liquid nitrogen. While liquid nitrogen is used to freeze foods, experts say its consumption can cause severe cryogenic burns and damage tissue. It can also prove fatal. Notably, vendors in Tamil Nadu were asked to ensure liquid nitrogen is evaporated completely before foods or drinks are served.
