What changes have been made as govt notifies citizenship rules?

The government has notified Citizenship (Amendment) Rules, 2026 under which applicants will have to sign a new consent form to opt into Fast Track Immigration Programme by agreeing to collection of their biometric information during registration. As per rules, on declaration of renunciation of OCI status, individuals must surrender original physical card to nearest Indian Mission.
