Scientists simulated what Earth could look like in 1,000 years using 10 scenarios, like 'Big Brother' and Sword of Damocles'. The scenarios bore results like a stable, egalitarian, resource-strained world, a deregulated, fragmented world, or a world with cyclical rise-and-fall civilisation. Planetary defence, pandemic preparedness and AI safety were named as tools to ensure humanity's continuity.
