Indian consumers showed strong spending intent with careful budgeting during Dhanteras, buying smaller gold coins, lighter jewellery and larger refrigerators. Gold sales by value are estimated to have increased 15-20% year-on-year to around ₹60,000 crore, while silver sales are expected to have increased 30% in value. Appliance makers reported double-digit growth over the festive period.
