What does it mean to have bright red, brown or black tongue?
According to Harvard Health, some tongue colours and appearances are signs of health issues. A brown or black tongue can signal a condition called "black hairy tongue" that occurs when papillae, which are small finger-like projections of tissue on tongue, get too long. A bright red tongue can indicate that a person has a Vitamin-B12 deficiency or scarlet fever infection.
