What happened the last time Iran captured US personnel?

Iran reportedly captured a US pilot after downing its fighter jet. A similar incident occurred in 2016, when US Navy sailors strayed into Iranian waters. IRGC detained them at gunpoint and blindfolded them. They were released unharmed after 15 hours but were forced to strip off their body armour, kneel, and put their hands behind their heads while being filmed.
