What happens if Sukanya Samriddhi Account holders miss deposit deadline?

The amount deposited in the government-backed Sukanya Samriddhi Account does not disappear if an account holder misses the annual deposit deadline or forgets to maintain minimum contribution, NDTVProfit reported. A default account can be brought back into operation by depositing the arrears, calculated at ₹250 for each financial year. A penalty amount of ₹50 is also calculated for each year.
