What is an extratropical storm that hit Sahara Desert?

Extratropical cyclones have cold air at their core, and derive energy from release of potential energy when cold and warm air masses interact. These always have one or more fronts connected to them, and can occur over land or ocean. Unexpected rains in Sahara Desert, which meteorologists called an extratropical storm, have caused the first floods there in 50 years.
