Auto-brewery syndrome is a rare medical condition that makes a person intoxicated without consuming alcohol. Also known as gut fermentation syndrome and endogenous ethanol fermentation, it happens when the body turns any kind of sugary foods or carbohydrates into alcohol. It is mainly caused by the presence of a high amount of yeast in the stomach.
