A person can develop beard burn when their skin comes into contact with another person’s facial hair. Beard burns can sometimes cause breaks in the skin, which increases the risk of infections like impetigo, a highly contagious condition that spreads easily, said Dr Kunal Sood, a Maryland-based physician. It's preventable if beards are kept clean and soft, he added.
