What is causing the sudden heavy rain across India?

A weather system developing over the Bay of Bengal has brought fresh moisture into the atmosphere, triggering heavy to very heavy rainfall across several states. Additionally, the convergence between moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal and a western disturbance, active over the mountainous areas of Uttar Pradesh, intensified rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning across India.
