What is FASTag annual pass that govt is planning to introduce?

Government is planning to introduce a new annual FASTag pass. According to the new policy, vehicle owners will be allowed to make a one-time annual payment of ₹3,000 to travel unlimited distances on all national highways, expressways, and state expressways for the entire year. The policy also proposes "pay-as-you-go model" at ₹50/100 km, convenient for those who don't travel often.
