What is Government of India's ‘Smart Cities Mission’?

Govt launched ‘Smart Cities Mission’ in 2015 to develop 100 cities with core infrastructure, sustainable environment, and high quality of life using “smart solutions” for efficient services, economic growth, and inclusive development. Focus is on urban renewal, retrofitting, redevelopment, greenfield development, and city-wide smart applications, implemented through Special Purpose Vehicles.
