What is Hyperloop transportation and how does it work?

American startup Hyperloop Transportation Technologies is developing a high-speed transportation system including vacuum tube trains traveling at speeds up to 1,200 kmph. It claims to cover the distance of 328 kilometres between Washington DC and New York in 30 minutes. The system includes self-driving cars to pick and drop passengers from their location to Hyperloop stations and vice-versa.
