'Kanya Pujan' honours nine young girls who represent Goddess Durga's nine avatars and is celebrated on eighth or ninth day of Navratri. Rituals include washing girls' feet and applying tilak on their foreheads. Girls are given gifts and people touch their feet to seek blessings. Kanya Pujan is a way to recognise the feminine power vested in girl child.
