Kartik Maas is the eighth month of the Hindu lunar calendar and the fourth month of Chaturmas, when Lord Vishnu is believed to awaken after a long resting period. It is considered auspicious for spiritual practices, meditation and fasting. Devotees worship Lord Vishnu and Lord Krishna and observe rituals such as holy baths, lighting diyas and donating to the needy.
