What is Netzah Yehuda, Israeli battalion suspended after assault on journalist?

Netzah Yehuda, or the 97th Battalion, which has been suspended after allegedly choking and assaulting a photojournalist, is an infantry unit within the Israel Defense Forces. Founded in 1999, it was created to provide ultra-Orthodox Jewish men a pathway into the army. The battalion has around 1,000 regular soldiers, at least 60% of whom are Religious Zionists.
