What is scapegoating and how does it affect mental health?

Scapegoating is a term used when children or caregivers in dysfunctional homes are bullied or criticised for family problems. These people often develop coping strategies such as people-pleasing behaviours, self-critical, have low self-esteem and suffer from memory loss and brain fog, experts said. They are also often unable to focus on studies or engage in relationships outside their family.
