What is the difference between regular UPI and UPI Lite?

With regular UPI, payments are made directly from a linked bank account and require entering UPI PIN for transaction. In UPI Lite, users transfer small amount from their bank account to UPI Lite balance, which is used for payments without entering PIN each time. It makes transactions faster and reduces load on banks during peak periods, a Moneycontrol report said.
