Taken aboard Apollo 8 by Bill Anders in 1968, Earthrise picture shows Earth peeking out from beyond the lunar surface as the first crewed spacecraft circumnavigated the Moon. It became one of the world's most famous photographs. Kathleen Rogers, president of Earth Day Network, says the photo played a pivotal role in encouraging people to take part in environmental activism.
