The FIDE Chess Olympiad is being held in Uzbekistan's Samarkand from September 15 to 27. The event features 11 Swiss-system rounds, with each five-player team fielding four players per round, resulting in four games in a match. A win earns two match points, a draw one and a loss none, with the team accumulating the most points winning the title.
