What is the WhatsApp OTP scam that has been going around in India?

A new WhatsApp scam has surfaced where the hacker sends you a personalised message posing as your friend after hacking into their account. The scammer will then ask you for an OTP, stating that they sent it to you by mistake. Once you share the OTP, the hacker will get access to your WhatsApp account and you'll be locked out.
