What was former PM Dr Manmohan Singh's connection with Assam?

Former PM Dr Manmohan Singh also had an address in Guwahati, Assam. His association with the address started in 1991, when he filed nomination for the Upper House. A 2 BHK apartment in the premises of the personal home of former Assam CM Hiteswar Saikia became Dr Singh's rented accommodation. He continued to represent Assam in Rajya Sabha till 2019.
