What were the security measures at Trump's event that shooter breached?

The suspected shooter at the dinner event, attended by US President Donald Trump, was apparently able to breach security as he was a guest of Washington Hilton Hotel. As per reports, the dinner guests had to show their tickets and pass through magnetometers. Moreover, Secret Service maintained a perimeter around Trump and armoured plates were reportedly placed under his table.
