What will Centre's revised duties for petrol & diesel mean for Indians?

The Centre hiked the windfall tax on diesel and jet fuel exports while cutting export duty on petrol on Thursday. A change in windfall taxes is usually undertaken either to cut exports and support domestic fuel supply or to reroute exceptional profits to the public. The recent duty changes are unlikely to affect petrol, diesel and air ticket prices.
