WhatsApp alerts users tricked into installing spyware-laced fake app

WhatsApp has alerted around 200 users, primarily in Italy, who were tricked into installing a malicious fake version of the chat app containing spyware. Italian spyware maker SIO has been accused of creating the fake app for iPhones. WhatsApp plans to send a legal notice to the company to stop further malicious activity.
