WhatsApp replies to India's notice on username feature, govt examining response: Report

Meta-owned WhatsApp has replied to the Indian government's notice on the rollout of its username feature, and the government is examining its response, PTI reported. The notice, which was issued on July 2, flagged safety concerns and noted that the feature could increase online fraud, phishing and impersonation attacks. Telegram and Signal, who were also served notices, haven't responded yet.
