WhatsApp to let users chat without sharing phone numbers

WhatsApp has announced a new feature that will let users chat without sharing their phone numbers. Starting this week, users can reserve a username ahead of the feature's rollout later this year. Once enabled, when users message a person or business for the first time, recipients will see their usernames instead of their phone numbers.
