Recalling the 2003 World Cup match against Pakistan, former India opener Virender Sehwag said, "When I came to run for Sachin Tendulkar...Shahid Afridi was abusing him a lot, kept saying something or the other." Sehwag added, "But he remained focussed. He knew it was important for him to stay at the crease." Sachin scored 98(75) in the match.
