The ten dirtiest Indian cities with a population of over one lakh are from West Bengal, according to government's Swachh Survekshan rankings. Howrah ranked as the dirtiest city, followed by Kalyani, Madhyamgram, Krishnanagar, Asansol, Rishra, Bidhannagar, Kanchrapara, Kolkata and Bhatpara. Most of these cities scored less than 1,000, as compared to 9,348 scored by cleanest cities Indore and Surat.
