Afghanistan, with a score of 1.446 is the least happy country among the 147 countries ranked in the World Happiness Report 2026. It is followed by Sierra Leone, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Yemen, Lebanon, DR Congo, Egypt and Tanzania. India secured the 116th rank, while neighbours Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka ranked 99, 104 and 134, respectively. Bangladesh got 127th rank.
