Which are the world's deadliest glacier disasters?

A glacial lake outburst in Peru's Huaraz in 1941 killed 5,000 people, while massive block of ice broke ​away from Peru's tallest mountain and killed 4,000 people in Ranrahirca in 1962. The deadliest glacier-related disaster in history happened in Peru's Yungay in 1970, killing 25,000 ​people. Similar incidents happened in Tibet and India in 1981 and 2021, respectively.
