Which are the world's safest and most unsafe countries?

Iceland is the world's safest country, according to the latest Global Peace Index (GPI) 2026. New Zealand, Switzerland, Slovenia, Ireland, Austria, Portugal, Singapore, Finland and Japan ranked among the top 10 safest countries. Russia, Sudan, Pakistan, Ukraine, Israel and Syria emerged as the most unsafe countries. India ranked 127, while the US ranked 134 among 163 countries.
