According to International Energy Agency, China holds roughly half of global rare earth reserves at 44 Mt REO (million tonnes of rare earth oxides equivalent), followed by Brazil at about 21 Mt REO. India accounts for 7.2 Mt REO, mainly hosted in monazite-bearing coastal and inland deposits and Australia holds about 6.3 Mt REO. Russia holds around 3.8 Mt REO.
