Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's 2020 Budget speech was longest in India's history, lasting around 2 hours and 42 minutes. Her 2019 Budget speech concluded in 2 hours and 17 minutes. The shortest-ever speech by words (800 words) was delivered by Hirubhai Patel in 1977. Arun Jaitley and Manmohan Singh's 2018 and 1991 speeches are among the longest ones by words.
