Which state recorded the highest dowry deaths in 2024?

According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), India reported 5,737 dowry deaths in 2024. Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number with 2,038 cases, followed by Bihar with 1,078 and Madhya Pradesh with 450. Rajasthan, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Haryana, Telangana and Maharashtra followed with 386, 337, 206, 200, 177, 144 and 143 cases respectively.
