Bihar recorded the highest number of murders linked to love affairs in India in 2024 at 240, followed by Uttar Pradesh at 229 and Gujarat at 144, according to a latest National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report. Madhya Pradesh (118) and Maharashtra (136) also reported high figures. The total number of such murders across India stood at 1,391 in 2024.
