Which states/UTs have the highest and lowest fertility rates?

Delhi recorded lowest total fertility rate (TFR) of 1.2 among major Indian states and UTs, according to the 2024 Sample Registration System data. Bihar had the highest TFR at 2.9, followed by Uttar Pradesh (2.6), Madhya Pradesh (2.4), Rajasthan (2.3), Chhattisgarh (2.2) and Jharkhand (2.2). Kerala (1.3), Tamil Nadu (1.3) and West Bengal (1.3) were among those recording low TFRs.
