Which states/UTs have the highest and lowest percentage of poor people?
According to NITI Aayog's National Multidimensional Poverty Index, Bihar has the highest percentage of multidimensionally poor people at 33.76% of its population as of 2019-21. It's followed by Jharkhand (28.81%), Meghalaya (27.79%), and Uttar Pradesh (22.93%). Meanwhile, Kerala (0.55%), Goa (0.84%), Puducherry (0.85%) and Lakshadweep (1.11%) have the lowest percentage of population who are poor.
