Which US Presidents lost the national popular vote but won the elections?
Hillary Clinton won 2.8 million more popular votes in 2016 but Donald Trump defeated her with 56.5% of electoral votes. In 2000, George W Bush won the Electoral College although Al Gore received 500,000 more popular votes. Other Presidents who lost the popular vote are Benjamin Harrison in 1888, Rutherford B Hayes in 1876 and John Quincy Adams in 1824.
