US government made its first $3 million compensation payment to personnel affected by the mysterious “Havana Syndrome”. The condition first came to public attention in 2016 when US diplomats stationed in Cuba's capital, Havana, reportedly suffered nosebleeds, headaches and vision problems after hearing piercing sounds at night. It was speculated a foreign entity used an unspecified sonar weapon.
