The first-ever Player of the Tournament award in ODI World Cup history was given in 1992 to New Zealand's Martin Crowe. SL's Sanath Jayasuriya, SA's Lance Klusener, India's Sachin Tendulkar bagged it in 1996, 1999 and 2003 editions, respectively. Other winners are Australia's Glenn McGrath (2007), India's Yuvraj Singh (2011), Australia's Mitchell Starc (2015) and NZ's Kane Williamson (2019).
