Who inherits property when a person dies without a Will in India?

When a person dies without a Will, property is distributed according to applicable succession law. For Hindus, it depends on Hindu Succession Act, 1956, which says spouse, children, mother are Class I heirs and inherit first. If none are alive, Class II heirs inherit, with father getting priority over brothers and sisters. They inherit only when earlier heirs are absent.
