Who is Ajay Kumar Bhalla, new Governor of Manipur?

Ajay Kumar Bhalla, who was appointed as the new Manipur Governor on Tuesday, is former Union Home Secretary. He was appointed to the post in August 2019 and his tenure ended in August 2024. He is a 1984 batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre. Bhalla, who hails from Jalandhar in Punjab, will replace Lakshman Prasad Acharya.
