Who is 72-year-old 'Encyclopedia of Forest' conferred with Padma Shri?

Known as 'Encyclopedia of Forest', 72-year-old Tulasi Gowda from Honnalli village in Ankola taluk of Uttara Kannada district has been conferred with Padma Shri. Tulasi, despite growing up in poverty among backward community, planted and nurtured thousands of trees over the past 60 years. Despite being illiterate, she is known for possessing endless knowledge of plants and herbs.
