Who is Ajay Pant, Indian captain charged in UK over seized Russian shadow tanker?

Ajay Pant, Indian national and captain of Russian shadow-fleet oil tanker MV Smyrtos, has been charged with breaching UK sanctions after the vessel was intercepted in the English Channel. Pant faces charges of directly or indirectly supplying or delivering prohibited Russian oil or oil products to a third country by ship. He's due to appear in a UK court today.
