Who is Ali Larijani, ex-parliament speaker contesting to be Iran Prez?

Ex-Iranian parliamentary speaker Ali Larijani is among the candidates who have registered to run for the presidency in Iran following President Ebrahim Raisi's death. Larijani is an adviser and ally of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and has also served as a military officer in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Larijani was barred from standing in the 2021 presidential race.
