India's 98th chess Grandmaster Aswath S hails from Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari. Born in 2008, he started playing chess at age three and was coached by his father AC Siva, who ran a chess academy. Aswath won Tamil Nadu Under-7 State Championship, securing a perfect 9/9 score. The 17-year-old crossed the 2500 rating mark in December last year.
